Recently, I was able to take a trip with my family out to San Francisco, and I was absolutely thrilled to get to see the mission district murals there!
We stayed at an AirBnB across from the Women’s Building. The first image was taken from our living room looking at the building itself—isn’t the view incredible?
From there, I set out on a journey to explore the many murals in the mission district. I was so excited to take in the breathtaking art!
I spent a few hours in Balmy (one of the many blocks in the mission) documenting the prodigious artistry. And while my Spanish is pretty bad, I was able to understand that there is a committee that would have to approve the artist of the mural, which would in turn have to be approved by the building’s owner.
It was awesome to see these murals in person and to learn more about the work and the expense that went into creating them. And I really was only able to scratch the surface of how many there are in the mission!
It was truly a remarkable experience traveling in San Francisco, and I am glad that I was able to document it so that I have these images to treasure even after the memories begin to fade!
